Lucy Ward is a printmaker based at Thames-Side Studios in London.
She is interested in capturing atmosphere, the sense of a place and her emotional response to landscapes in her work. In pieces that depict wildlife, she explores the connection and shifting perspectives of watching and being watched, as well the line between the natural world and man-made constructions.
She aims to create the feeling that the image is a snapshot of a wider narrative – a moment when something is about to happen, or the air is still resonating from an event that has passed – encouraging imagined stories to wrap around the pieces.
Lucy uses a variety of techniques, including etching, aquatint and linocut. Recent shows include the 2018 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and Impress at Lumen, London.
